Doctor Strange 2: Did Scarlet Witch Die at the End?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness sees Benedict Cumberbatch's titular hero in the cataclysmic troubles of the multiverse, which are surprisingly caused by Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, the confirmed big bad for the sequel. While Olsen's Scarlet Witch is one of the many fan-beloved characters in the MCU, fans are worried about Wanda's fate at the end of the film.

[SPOILER WARNING]

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness centers around Wanda, desperately trying to get to her illusion-made twins in another universe, and is later confirmed to be behind the creature hunting down MCU newcomer America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) due to her ability to travel across different universes that Wanda wants to steal. Doctor Strange tries every trick he has on his sleeve to protect Chavez from the overpowered Scarlet Witch, but the Scarlet Witch appears to be stronger than anyone we've seen in the MCU.

Scarlet Witch's power got even stronger as she easily eliminates every member of The Illuminati, from Black Bolt, Reed Richards, Captain Carter, Captain Marvel, and Professor X, while looking for a locked-up Chavez in an Illuminati facility. Given the Witch's extreme amount of power, she succeeded and took Chavez to her temple called Wundagore Mountain, where she would absorb her power.

Now, of course, Doctor Strange together with Wong wouldn't let that happen. The duo fought Wanda but still overpowers them, thankfully, Chavez was heavily influenced by Doctor Strange about how to use her power and successfully used it against Scarlet Witch to bring her to another universe she always wanted to be transported to.

Scarlet Witch attacked her parallel variant who lived happily together with her twins Billy and Tommy in another universe, and the twins are now terrified of her. She then realized what she has become, immediately regrets her actions, and flees from the temple.

Scarlet Witch then vowed to destroy the temple into which the spells were first written. In the process, Wanda seemingly ends her own life by allowing herself to be crushed by the crumbling.

Sadly, those were Wanda's final moments in the film, and whether the Scarlet Witch is alive, the mystery is still unknown.

Is the Scarlet Witch really dead?

To give the fans ease of mind, it's very unlikely for Marvel Studios to kill not only one of the strongest characters in the MCU but also a character who has an insane massive number of fans, just like that. Wanda is now one of the prominent characters of the franchise, and it's not very plausible for them to kill Wanda without giving her the redemption arc that she deserves.

Aside from that, Elizabeth Olsen reportedly signed an extension contract with Marvel Studios, which will see her be part of the MCU for the next 7 years, which means Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness won't be the Scarlet Witch's last appearance.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now showing in theaters worldwide.
