Disney+ Reaches a Major Milestone With 100 Million Paid Global Subscribers

Disney+ made it, Disney+ hit the 100 million mark with their subscribers across the globe making it one of the streaming giants to ever reach the said number of subscribers. In a matter of one year, Disney+ now has 100 million subscribers despite being a young streaming service.

This feat of Disney+ was announced by the Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Chapek, who happily brought the news that Disney+ already surpassed the 100-million mark on their subscribers, and with this ecstatic news comes to Disney feeling more ambitious especially on the significant increase on their investments on the streaming platform for the development of more high-quality content.

To add, Disney is now targeting to add 100+ more titles this year which will include Disney Animation, Disney Live-Action, Star Wars, Marvel, National Geographic, and 20th Century Fox, and put the direct-to-consumer business as their number one priority. With the various titles lined up under Disney+ releases, it just makes it more possible that Disney+ would be able to reach higher heights.

Launched on November 12, 2019, Disney+ is just more than a year on the business and still, they managed to exceed beyond their expected number of subscribers. Disney+ rapidly reached various parts of the world with the US, Europe, Canada, Latin America, New Zealand, Australia, and just recently, it entered Singapore.

Disney+ houses various franchises such as Disney itself, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel. Big titles such as Star Wars' The Mandalorian, Marvel's WandaVision, Mulan, Soul, and Hamilton are among the shows that were officially released through Disney+ with Raya and The Last Dragon as the latest animated film to join the roster.

Disney's Investor Day event in December 2020 came with the announcement of the shows slated for a Disney+ release under Marvel such as The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Loki, and Star Wars such as The Bad Batch and Boba Fett. It is expected that Disney+'s number of subscribers would continue to increase with these titles.

Disney+ subscription costs $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year.
