It's official! Boba Fett is getting his own Star Wars series entitled The Book of Boba Fett. This announcement comes on the heel of Disney+ announcing 7 other new Star Wars shows, including Obi Wan, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, a Rogue Squadron movie, and an untitled Taika Waititi film.

The show was not included in Disney+ major announcement in December in order to tease fans officially during The Mandalorian Season 2 finale. The surprise announcement was revealed in the finale as we see Boba Fett and Fennec Shand appear in Jabba the Hutt's lair at the end of the episode.

The Book of Boba Fett will release on Disney+ in December 2021. It will not run alongside Season 3 of The Mandalorian, but replace it as next year's Disney+ featured release. This means Mandalorian Season 3 likely won't be released until 2022.

The Book of Boba Fett Cast: Who will appear?

The Book of Boba Fett will star Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett. Temuera previously portrayed Jango Fett in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith films. He also did the voice acting for Boba Fett in the re-release edition of The Empire Strikes Back. His most recent Star Wars role was as Boba Fett in The Mandalorian Season 2 finale.

The show will also Star Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand. She also played the same role in The Mandalorian Season 2 finale. Ming-Na Wen is best known for her 7-year role on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. She has also appeared in Eureka, Stargate Universe, Phineas and Ferb, The Batman, Todd McFarlane's Spawn, and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. She was also the voice actor for Mulan in the original animated movie by Disney.

No other cast has been confirmed for The Book of Boba Fett; however, we can assume that since it will be taking place during the same time period as The Mandalorian that many of the same actors and characters could make an appearance.

In continuity, and from scenes from the show, we know that Jabba the Hutt is officially disposed of. It looks like Boba Fett, with some help from Fennec Shand, is now the head of the remnants of his empire… well at least after ending the career of Bib Fortuna in The Mandalorian Season 2 finale. Will they fight to maintain and grow what Jabba has built? Certainly, the sharks will be out to claim a stake in the crumbling (or burgeoning) criminal enterprise.

The Book of Boba Fett trailer: When will the trailer be released?

We expect The Book of Boba Fett trailer to be released around November 2021, or about a month before the show releases. The Mandalorian Season 2 trailer was released on Seb 15, 2020 and the show released on October 30, 2020.

While it may be a long wait for the trailer, we do have the end scene from The Mandalorian Season 2 finale; which acts as a clip from the new show to satisfy fans.

The Book of Boba Fett Director and Producers: Who will be creating the show?

The Book of Boba Fett will be executively produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriguez. Jon Favreau is best known for creating The Mandalorian as well as creating some of the biggest hits in the Marvel Universe. Dave FIloni has written for The Mandalorian as well as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Rebels, and Star Wars Resistance. Robert Rodriguez also worked on The Mandalorian. He is known for his work on Alita: Battle Angel, Sin City, and the Spy Kids franchise.

No Director has been officially announced for the show. It is likely The Book of Boba Fett will utilize multiple guest directors, much as they have in The Mandalorian.
