A lot of MCU fans have been looking forward to Deadpool 3 due to various reasons whether it's Hugh Jackman's return as Wolverine, the rumored cameos of the Fox Marvel characters, or its multiversal story that may lead to Avengers: Secret Wars.
So far, Marvel Studios remains mum on the exact plot details of the film, but we know that in a typical Deadpool fashion, it will be lampooning the MCU and the recent trends in the comic book genre.
As it turns out, the upcoming film will also feature a moment that is inspired by a scene in a franchise that is set in the galaxy far, far away.

Shawn Levy Discusses How Return of the Jedi Inspired a Deadpool 3 Scene
In an essay that he wrote for Esquire, director Shawn Levy shared a memory from his childhood when he watched Return of the Jedi multiple times in theaters and how it was an awakening for him about the magic of movies.
"I went to the theater again and again to see Return of the Jedi. I vividly remember the scene in which Luke is hiding from Vader in the Emperor’s room and Vader gives the speech that ends with 'If you will not turn to the dark side, then perhaps your sister will.' It was dead quiet. Pin-drop silence," he recalled.
"Suddenly Vader has pushed the wrong button. Luke comes screaming out of the shadows and just goes to town in a lightsaber battle against Vader. The way that felt: The forty seconds of stillness from the audience, then the spectacle and emotion, is seared not just in my eyeballs but in my heart."
Levy went on to write about how that iconic Star Wars moment inspired a key scene that he filmed in his upcoming movie Deadpool 3.
"I’m now making Deadpool 3, the production of which was paused because of the actors’ strike. For one key scene in the movie, I said to my stunt and action team, 'Guys, this is the Jedi moment,'" the director wrote.
"I pulled up that scene of Vader and Luke on my phone and restudied how it was photographed, how it was blocked, the framing, the tempo.
Levy added, "The keen Star Wars fan will see the shot in my Deadpool movie that was inspired by a moment that I saw in a theater decades ago. That’s a forever memory. And that’s a treasure."
That is an interesting piece of behind-the-scenes information about the upcoming film. Now, MCU and Star Wars fans can now look forward to the scene that Levy was referring to and it's curious to see which exact moment it will be on.
The director is also set to work on his own Star Wars movie which is definitely a dream come true for him and it is lovely to hear his anecdote regarding how it impacted his love for movies and his directorial career now.
Deadpool 3 is slated to premiere in theaters sometime in 2024.
