Deadpool 3: New Report Suggests Another Release Date Delay

A lot of fans have been looking forward to the release of Deadpool 3 next year since it will feature both the MCU debut of Ryan Reynolds' titular mercenary and the return of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine alongside other characters from the Fox Marvel movies.

However, with the ongoing writers' and actors' strikes that have shut down all major Hollywood productions, there have also been some concerns about whether the film will be able to make it on its planned May 2024 release, especially since filming was not completed prior to the strike.

So far, Disney has not made any major release date changes since the actors' strike commenced last month and they are still committed to releasing every single theatrical film that is slated for the coming months.

Now, a new report has suggested that another release date delay may be incoming for the threequel.

Deadpool 3 is Absent in Disney's Upcoming Theatrical Releases List

In the recent report from Disney's Q3 2023 earnings presentation, Deadpool 3 is notably absent from the list of their upcoming theatrical releases from September 2023 to June 2024.

While the studio has not given an official word, the film's absence from the list suggests that it might no longer make it on its planned May 2024 release considering that another upcoming MCU movie The Marvels is still part of the list which is slated to release this November.

Given that the threequel has not finished filming yet and they have a chunk of work that is still needed to be done once they resume after the strike ends, it is not surprising at this point to see its absence from the list.

At the moment, it seems that Disney wants to be flexible on its release window and leave room in case the strike lasts longer. It's also more difficult right now to commit to an early summer release next year if filming has not been completed yet.

For now, let's wait and see how it will all unfold in the coming weeks since it is still an ongoing development and the duration of the strike will definitely determine whether the film will be able to release by summer next year or not.
