Earlier this year, Ryan Reynolds treated fans with a first-look photo at Hugh Jackman's comic-accurate costume as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. It ramped up the excitement for the film as production is still ongoing ahead of its release in less than a year.

However, at the same time, there were conversations about whether the Hollywood actors union SAG-AFTRA will also commence a strike as it seemed like no deal is going to be made on their negotiations with the studios for a new contract.

Yesterday, as the contract expired last Wednesday and no deal was made, SAG-AFTRA officially commenced a strike starting today and all major Hollywood productions around the world are immediately affected by it.

According to Variety, Deadpool 3 has halted its filming as the SAG-AFTRA strike commences today. It is one of the major Hollywood productions around the world that is immediately impacted by the strike.

Part of the rules of the strike is that all members of the guild are not allowed to do any kind of filming or promotional work for any projects that they're involved in. Reynolds, Jackman, and the rest of the cast are part of the guild so they are all officially on strike.

Aside from the two actors, Jennifer Garner, Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapicic, Rob Delaney, and Shioli Kutsuna are also part of the ensemble.

The film, which is under the direction of Shawn Levy, has been filming since May. There have been rumors that it will also feature cameo appearances from the other actors in Fox Marvel movies which is now likely to be true as evidenced by Garner's confirmed appearance.

Since there is no end in sight for the strike anytime soon, it is unknown when the filming will be able to continue and industry analysts have warned that there is a possibility that it might last for months.

With this new setback in its production, it might also put its planned early summer release date next year in danger since the gap between today and its arrival in theaters will be shorter the longer the strike lasts.

If it ends up lasting until fall, it won't be surprising if Disney and Marvel Studios will move the release date again in order to accommodate more time to finish the movie. We should be hearing more updates about this in the coming weeks or months depending on the situation of the strike.
