Daniel Radcliffe Jokes He Can Be Wolverine For Being A ‘Short Actor’

Daniel Radcliffe may be popularly known for his most prominent role as Harry Potter, but he has also taken more projects that would fail to tie him down to type-casted roles. He had played a farting corpse (Swiss Army Man, 2016), Ignatius Perrish (Horns, 2013), Craig (Miracle Workers), and soon, in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Recently, the actor addresses by joking about a Wolverine casting rumor that he could play the titular hero for being short.

Speaking with GQ, Radcliffe opens up how saying something as an actor could easily lead to speculations, “I say something, and then occasionally, I get bored of answering that way, so I say something different, and that sets it off again,” Radcliffe says, “I should just never open my mouth.”

The actor had actually addressed this Wolverine casting rumor on multiple occasions, and once and for all, outrightly said in an interview back in April that it’s been happening to him ‘semi-annually for the last three years.’

Considering the possibility of him having to play one role for a whole decade, and his experience of playing Harry Potter since he was younger, it would seem he prefers to play different roles across the decade rather than sticking to one for a very long time. Of course, this has worked for him immensely over the years in his career.

Radcliffe added, “This is something that comes up every so often, I think because in the comics, Wolverine is short, so every so often, they’re like, ‘Who’s a short actor?’ There’s never been any actual truth to it.”

Ultimately, the actor addressed that this has once again been ‘purely a press tour rumor.’ Besides, Hugh Jackman is just returning to reprise his role as the iconic Wolverine in Deadpool 3, so, hopefully, the rumor on Daniel Radcliffe’s Wolverine casting dies down starting today.

Meanwhile, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story will premiere on November 4, 2022, with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool 3 set to be released on November 8, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
