Rock, who works as a comedian, made fun of Pinkett-Smith’s hairstyle during the Oscars. It’s unclear if he was aware that the Gotham alum has been battling alopecia for quite some time. Rock apologized to Pinkett-Smith for the remarks that he made, but that’s about it.

Chris Rock Not Ready To Talk To Will Smith

Now, a source told Us Weekly that Rock is not ready to make amends with Smith even though the latter had already apologized to him a handful of times. In fact, Smith released a lengthy video apologizing to Rock again on July 29.

“Chris has no immediate plans to have a one-on-one with Will. He’s moving forward,” the source said.

In his video, Smith acknowledged that what he did to Rock was wrong. He also told Rock that when he’s ready to talk to him, he would be here.

“I’ve spent the last three months replaying and understanding the nuances and the complexities of what happened at that moment. I’m not gonna try to unpack all of that right now. But I can say to all of you that there is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave at that moment. There’s no part of me that thinks that’s the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insults. So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk. I’m trying not to think of myself as a piece of [expletive],” Smith said.

Will Smith Didn’t Want To Publicly Apologize To Chris Rock, But Jada Pinkett-Smith Asked Him To Do So

A second source also claimed that Pinkett-Smith was the one who encouraged her husband to apologize to Rock again.

“Jada has also been pushing Will to apologize because it has become this really dark cloud over her Red Table Talk series,” the source said.

The insider also claimed that Smith didn’t really want to apologize publicly to Rock, but he was compelled to do so because of his wife.

Following the incident, Smith was banned from returning to the Oscars or attending any Academy events for the next 10 years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
