In a chat with The Guardian, Park Seo-joon shared how shocked he was at first when he learned that the franchise is reaching out to him, “When I first heard that the Marvel Cinematic Universe wanted to speak with me, I couldn’t believe it. I actually couldn’t believe it.”

Park also revealed that getting nervous at first is nothing new, especially with an international project ahead of him, “I’m not someone who has a fear of challenges, but whether I am filming in South Korea or abroad, everything is a challenge for me. So, I did feel some nerves at first. But everyone was so helpful and welcoming that I was able to find my feet really quickly.”

The role of Park Seo-joon in The Marvels remains in the shadows and there is no confirmation yet whether he would be a villain or a hero. Some speculate that he would be filling the role of Amadeus Cho, a well-known Korean superhero who is the successor of Bruce Banner, however, other fans argue that Park’s age does not match that of the character and that Cho is not related to The Marvels at all.

Other speculations on his role point to Noh-Varr, also known as Marvel Boy, who is a soldier of the Kree Empire who lost his parents and girlfriend when their ship crashed down on Earth. Fans theorized that since the filming of the movie is in New Jersey and in the comics, such place is where the ship crashed, Park could be Marvel Boy. Some fans also think that he could be an agent of S.W.O.R.D.

Park Seo-joon is the third major South Korean actor to enter the MCU after Claudia Kim who appeared as Helen Cho in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Don Lee who played Gilgamesh in Eternals. He is expected to draw more audience from South Korea which is considered as one belonging to the top five largest film markets in the globe.

Park Seo-joon is best known for his roles in various Korean television shows such as What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, Itaewon Class, and Fight for My Way among others, and he also appeared in films such as The Divine Fury, Midnight Runners, and The Chronicles of Evil.
