Camilla Parker Bowles has been gaining more love and respect in recent years. Thousands of royal fans and some royal experts have been praising her because of the support that she has given Prince Charles. In fact, even when things were hard for her because she was scrutinized by the public, she still stuck by Prince Charles’ side.

Prior to Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee speech earlier this year, there were still questions regarding Camilla Parker Bowles’ future title. After all, a spokesperson for Clarence House previously said that she would be styled as princess consort when Prince Charles ascended the throne.

But in her statement, the monarch expressed her desire for Camilla to be styled as queen consort when the time comes. However, royal biographer Andrew Morton is convinced that not all royal fans believe that the Duchess of Cornwall deserves the title. After all, Camilla was famously involved in a controversy back in the 80s.

Queen Elizabeth Wants Camilla Parker Bowles To Be Queen Consort, But Not All Britons Agree

At the time, she had an affair with Prince Charles while they were both married to their respective spouses. Some royal experts are also convinced that Camilla was one of the reasons why Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage didn’t work out.

“The Queen adding her weight to Camilla being called Queen [Consort] has given it considerable impetus. But I am quite sure there are still people who feel she shouldn't be Queen, that she should remain as a Duchess. The 'gorilla in the room' is Camilla, it is unspoken. I'd be interested to see what an opinion poll says. I think most people find Camilla as a good egg, a decent person, she supported Charles and made him happy. But there is still that kind of sense of what would have happened had she not been around,” Morton told Express.

Royal Fans Wondering What Would’ve Happened If Camilla Parker Bowles Didn’t Have An Affair With Prince Charles

It's unclear if Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage would’ve lasted longer if Camilla didn’t get into the picture. And some royal fans are also wondering if the Princess of Wales would still be alive because staying married to Prince Charles would mean that she wouldn’t be with Dodi Al Fayed in Paris when they both got into a car accident and died.

One of the most unfortunate things about not having Princess Diana around has to do with her grandchildren not meeting her. The late royal was well-loved by Britons, and she even earned the People’s Princess title.

Camilla Parker Bowles Will Officially Be Known As Queen Consort

Meanwhile, other reports revealed that the Queen Mother had to do with Camilla potentially receiving the queen consort title when Prince Charles ascends the throne. Queen Elizabeth’s mom was styled as queen consort for the simple reason that she was married to the ruling king.

“Unless otherwise decided, a queen consort is crowned with the king, in a similar but simpler ceremony. If the new sovereign is a queen, her consort is not crowned or anointed at the coronation ceremony,” the royal website stated.

Prior to the Queen’s statement, Camilla wanted to simply be known as princess consort as a sign of respect for Princess Diana. After all, when she married Prince Charles in 2005, she was aware that a lot of royal fans disliked her.

“Camilla was not popular or well-liked, [although] this has changed a lot since the marriage as Camilla has taken on a lot of patronages and Charles is a lot happier. Still, [there was] a lot of tension and anger among a certain element of the population—so it was decided that Camilla would be styled as the Duchess of Cornwall, even though, of course, she is the Princess of Wales,” royal expert Marlene Koenig told Town & Country.

But according to Constitutional Affairs Minister Christopher Leslie, it wouldn’t matter what title Camilla would use. After all, she will still officially be known as queen consort when her husband becomes king.
