Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Getting Extended Hiatus Before Chapter 72 Release

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations will be taking an extended hiatus, as rumors claimed. Shueisha has announced that the Boruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto will be taking a break through July, and won't return with a new chapter until August 20.

Since Boruto is regularly released monthly, it's not considered to be a long hiatus, but fans will have to wait longer for Chapter 72 to arrive, especially now that readers have a lot of questions after the latest chapter's surprises, including Daemon's weakness and what Amado planted within Kawaki other than the karma, so it's going to be one long summer for Boruto fans who are already speculating about Amado's ultimate goal and what Code plans to do next.

Warning: Major spoilers from Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 71 ahead.

In Chapter 71, Amado is able to escape death from Code after he told Eida that there's something he had to say about Kawaki. Eida summons her little brother Daemon in order to stop Code from trying to kill the former Kara scientist, and even though his limiters were apparently rescinded by Amado at the end of Chapter 70, it looks like Code is not able to defeat Daemon. Despite multiple attempts to kill Amado with his claw, Daemon is able to stop him, and Eida tells Code not to interfere.

Code is forced to teleport away from the Kara hideout with Bug. After Code leaves, Eida begins to question Amado about Kawaki, threatening to kill him if he doesn't spill the truth. While Amado doesn't reveal his ultimate goal, he mentions that Kawaki is important part of it, and that he also reveals that he put a unique emergency shutdown command code within Kawaki when he planted his karma.

At the end of the chapter, Amado tells Eida to accept Shikimaru's offer to meet Kawaki if she wants to build a relationship with him, and that he will mediate and introduce Daemon. The chapter concludes with Code on Konoha's Hokage mountain sculptures, looking vengeful towards Kawaki, whom he thinks has taken everything from him.

An extended hiatus could mean that the next manga chapter will be a big one, but Shueisha hasn't released any previews and plot details about it. The shonen series might get a timeskip soon, but we'll have to wait and see.
