There’s no question that Bocchi the Rock! was one of the biggest shows of 2022 based on how talked-about the anime is until now. In case there was still any doubt, a recent report revealed that Bocchi the Rock! caused a guitar craze in Japan since its release.
A report by Sankei News revealed that sales of guitars and other musical instruments went up considerably in the past year. This is thanks in large part to the success of CloverWorks’ hit Fall 22 anime.
The report comes just in time as Bocchi the Rock! celebrates its anniversary, which will soon be marked with a special event.
Bocchi the Rock! Anime Celebrates First Anniversary
Fall 22 was one of the most stacked anime seasons in recent memory. Aside from the long-awaited return of Bleach and Mob Psycho 100, the season also saw the premiere of the highly anticipated Chainsaw Man.
Even with the odds stacked against it, the little-known Bocchi the Rock! quickly gained a fanbase after its first couple of episodes. Soon, the series went viral thanks to hilarious Hitori Gotoh memes.
By the end of the season, the show had become one of the year’s breakout hits. What followed was lots of events, streams, and merch collabs that continue to get announced to this day.
Today marks the anniversary of the anime. Aside from a commemorative post on the show’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, it was also revealed that a special livestream will happen on Saturday.
The stream will go live on October 14 at 11:30 PM JST (7:30 AM Pacific Time), and it will feature the four main voice cast members as they reveal info on the upcoming compilation movie.

Right as the anime is celebrating its anniversary, a report by Sankei News confirmed the show’s massive influence, especially in Japan.
The report revealed that musical instrument sales have increased by over 73% in Japan over the last year.
Some specific guitar models like Bocchi’s PACIFICA 611 Yamaha also continue to sell out in stores.
There are several reasons for the increase in musical instrument sales, but Shimamura Musical Instruments says that Bocchi the Rock!’s success was a huge factor in the high demand for instruments.
With the show’s continued collabs and its influence on music equipment sales, it’s only a matter of time before Bocchi the Rock! gets a second anime season, though there’s no word yet on when that will be announced.
