The United Nations continues its works on the world's problem in terms of its environment and climate change. Six years ago, the Paris Agreement pushed everyone to make a significant change, urging all countries to limit global warming to not more than 2-degree Celsius.

To expand this project even more, the Climate Ambition Summit 2020 – through the British Embassy in Seoul – named BLACKPINK as an advocate for the upcoming 26th Climate Change Conference.

Before the COP26, the K-pop girl group delivered a powerful speech during Google's Dear Earth event.

BLACKPINK joined Google's Dear Earth ahead COP26 in November.

Over the weekend, YG Entertainment's supergroup joined artists and notable personalities to inspire all viewers to improve the planet and establish a more sustainable place for everyone.

They joined Billie Eilish, Anita, and Lil Dicky -- among others – and gave musical performances and inspiring addresses. For BLACKPINK's part, all four members spoke up and promoted action on the climate crisis.

Jisoo began the speech by noting that Earth has gotten sicker in the past years. In order to prevent the gruesome effects in the future, the member urged everyone to be more aware of the crisis and do something about it,

Meanwhile, Jennie also delivered an inspiring message by saying:

"We are the first generation to have grown up in the digital age and that makes us unique. Since we have grown up connected with each other through technology, we have a lot in common regardless of where we live on the Earth. And today, we are united once again, as we are facing a common problem associated with the times that we live in."

Rose shared how she first noticed the worsening status of the environment when she saw the increasing amount of waste being collected this year. Jisoo, on the other hand, perceived it when news about the rapid melting of ice caps in polar areas emerged.

Thai rapper Lisa raised Thailand's flag by delivering her speech in Thai, saying that the Earth has been warming too fast. According to the idol, people might no longer have a planet to save in the future.

In response to this, Rose urged everyone to come together and unite to accomplish the collective goal of saving the planet. If people work as one, they will all avoid the next critical moment that has been posing as a threat for years.

Aside from sharing moving messages, BLACKPINK also helmed the event by performing their hit song Stay.

BLACKPINK To Continue Promotion At COP26

Next month, BLACKPINK will join the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in the UK. World leaders are expected to attend to share their actions to protect the Earth.

The girl group released a video before their appearance, sharing a sneak peek at another heartfelt message to inspire everyone.

"Every year – we are seeing more extreme weather, things like heatwaves, droughts, and flooding. Part of the reason is that the earth is losing its natural habitats, and it's losing them fast. Back in 1997, 46% of the earth was made up of natural habitats. But now only 35% remains and more are disappearing every day. These habitats and the species living in them help control our climate, food, water, and even the air that we breathe."

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson was the one to invite the group to COP26. He penned a personal letter to BLACKPINK requesting them to help them raise awareness around the globe.

The COP26 will be held in Glasgow due to the Scotland city's experience, commitment to sustainability, and world-class facilities.
