However, the recent special event caused an online debate after a fan read a letter about cultural appropriation. The fan delivered her thoughts to the idol in a well-mannered way to educate her on the topic.

The Thai idol willingly listened to the fan and asked the staff to extend the fan sign event to six minutes instead of the original 90 seconds meeting.

"I didn't know. Like, I didn't have bad intentions. I'm thinking that, I thought that the hairstyle is very cool. That's all, but I feel so bad, and it's like, I'm very sorry [if] they got hurt from that," she said.

Some fans pointed out that Lisa and her team could have performed hip-hop without using AAVE. Others argued that she was wearing "Thai braids," which never promoted cultural appropriation.

However, the now-divided fandom kept on pointing out how all BLACKPINK members committed the same issue before.

On Reddit, a user detailed how the girls appropriated different cultures, specifically Hindu and Indian culture, in their songs and videos. Lisa reportedly offered the highest form of disrespect to Hinduism when she sat on a throne with Lord Ganesha at her feet in the How You Like That music video.

Jennie had also been slammed in the Kill This Love for wearing Bindi and Maang Teeka despite their sacred history. Meanwhile, Rose and Jisoo reportedly repeated the mockery on Bharatnatyam, a regional Indian dance, during a radio interview amid Kill This Love promotions.
