Squid Game immediately swept Netflix's most-watched list soon after its release, and one of the current debatable theories surrounding the movie involved BLACKPINK Jennie's potential appearance.

BLACKPINK member Jennie, although she did not appear on Squid Game, got involved in the movie's name due to her relationship with Jung Ho Yeon. The actress famously played the role of player No. 67, Kang Sae Byeok.

Jennie and Ho Yeon stirred people's excitement, even more, when the latter posted a photo of them on the set of the series.

This proved the statement from Squid Game actor, Lee Jung Jae. For what it's worth, he previously said that Jennie sent a coffee truck to support Ho Yeon and visited them personally, as well.

With the singer's current connection to the series, some fans quickly suggested that Jennie might be part of the next installment of the series.

Fans took their imagination online as they suggested Jennie to be part of Squid Game Season 2.

On TikTok, user @guineo000 shared a now-viral video of the K-pop idol wearing Player No. 116 uniform. It also added a screenshot of her Instagram Story about the doll she received from the team. The post already reached 1.4 million likes and 25,000 comments from viewers who approve Jennie's appearance.

In addition, the release of Lisa's "MONEY" fueled more rumors about BLACKPINK's participation in the second season.

On the same video-sharing platform, fans suggested that the song would perfectly fit the series, especially since Squid Game is a series about mysterious survival game with a ₩45.6 billion prize.

Despite the emergence of these two theories, fans should take these with a grain of salt as the director currently does not have any plans to create Squid Game Season 2.

In an interview with Variety, director Hwang Dong-hyuk said that he has some issues proceeding with a sequel part.

"I don't have well developed plans for ‘Squid Game 2.' It is quite tiring just thinking about it. But if I were to do it, I would certainly not do it alone. I'd consider using a writers' room and would want multiple experienced directors," he said, as quoted by Forbes.

Director Dong-hyuk wants some assistance as he wrote and directed the first part of the hit series.

With Squid Game Season 2's future still unknown, the possibility of BLACKPINK's Jennie is also uncertain.
