Batman is Coming in 2018, Jeremy Irons Gives His Two Cents

While Justice League appears to be shaping up quite nicely, Ben Affleck's Batman solo film has also received quite a nice confirmation.

Previously undated as far as theatrical releases go and with Affleck's previous thoughts on slowly but surely getting the process right, Warner Bros. confirmed with Deadline that Batman is among the projects slated for 2018 release.

We already knew that Justice League will come in before the solo Batman movie does, but I guess I can't say I'm not surprised that it will still be pushing through for that year. Perhaps a year's worth of screenplay writing and preparations can do the trick.

In the meantime, Jeremy Irons, who plays the role of Alfred Pennyworth in this DC film universe, also gave his thoughts on how his character will be like in Justice League and the Batman movie.

Speaking with IGN, Irons revealed that while he is mostly a sort of foot soldier to the big heroes, he will not stand idly by without doing anything.

"I think he's waiting with baited breath to see what is going to happen. He's in the employ of Bruce Wayne he doesn't always agree with him but I think he'll help where he can. It'll be very interesting to see where he gets to, when we get to Ben's production of Batman this spring I haven't read the script of it yet. I think all of us who are sort of normal human beings, which Alfred is, we watch the gods with amazement and some spite."

We've already seen that Irons' Alfred isn't the pushover type. And we already know that he'll keep that sarcastic charm fresh onscreen. The only hope is that the script and the storyline will do justice for everyone involved.

Justice League will be out in theaters on Nov. 16, 2017.
