Batman is Shaping Up Nicely, Starting With Its Script

Amid the mixed feelings of both fans and moviegoers for DC films, there's still the issue of how the stand-alone hero movies will fare in the cinemas. There's already the issue of director exits for The Flash and previous odd rumors about Wonder Woman.

But recently, Aquaman seems to be getting a lot of good movements forward, recently adding another name to its cast list. One other movie that are very much on fans' radars is Ben Affleck's Batman.

This could be the light to quell the rumors of Warner Bros. execs not really caring about the plot and the screenplay of its movies. After all, previous movies in the franchise haven't seen success in terms of the narrative.

In an interview with The New York Times, Affleck revealed some of his plans, and that's to take time in creating the Batman movie that fans deserve. According to Affleck, the team is still doing the screenplay, which is, by itself, already a big endeavor in any movie.

"I'm a real believer in not reverse engineering projects to meet a window or a date, but rather when you get the story right, the right idea, the right thing, then you make the movie. That's what we're doing, and I'm hoping to get that done."

Affleck also stated that he wants to pay homage to those who have already created the great Batman movies before him, including the fan-favorite trilogy from Chris Nolan. The director doesn't want to see it as overtaking the greats, but rather ensuring that the movie that he creates is one that would be worthy to stand next to them.

For now, Batman does not have a release date yet. But there will be other DC films waiting in line, namely Wonder Woman and Justice League for 2017.
