It was supposed to be a moment of celebration for the ARMYs in Pakistan, as it is Jungkook's birthday last September 1st, with a birthday ad launched in the city of Gujranwala in the South Asian nation, until a Pakistani politician ordered to take it down. The reason: it is promoting "homosexuality."

Does BTS Have ‘Negative Influence' On Young People?

In celebration of the 24th birthday of Jungkook, an avid fan of the K-Pop boy group in Pakistan bought a massive billboard, featuring the singer wearing his suit, and greeting him for his big day.

The billboard read: "Happy 24th birthday Jungkook BTS."

The BTS ARMY got permission from the Chamber of Commerce to put up the billboard for two days. However, just one day after getting hoisted, Younus Mughal, the billboard's owner was ordered to take down the billboard after it received a complaint from a Pakistani politician.

Younus Mughal told Korean news media outlet Koreaboo that Furqan Aziz Butt, a candidate at the Punjab Assembly told them to take down the billboard immediately.

The billboard owner said:

"We took it off later that same day in the evening. When we saw the ad while removing it, we didn't really get what it was about, just that it showed someone's face. Furqan Aziz Butt from the Jamaat-e-Islami had told us to take the ad off immediately.

The Pakistani politician reportedly received on Facebook various complaints from individuals about Jungkook's birthday ad. This politician also claimed BTS has a "negative influence" on the younger generation, and that they "promote homosexuality."

He said:

"There are young people in this city. This group [BTS] has a negative influence on them and encourages them to behave in wrong activities. They promote homosexuality."

ARMYs Enraged On Social Media

The BTS fan base known as the ARMY could not help but to express their side on social media. The billboard in Pakistan trended online, but apparently, the mood of the netizens changed when Jungkook's birthday ad was ordered to get removed.

Netizen @starsluvjk said on Twitter, "This makes me so sick," referring to the political party's order.
