  1. Reborn!

Reborn! also known as "Katei Kyoshi Hitman Reborn," is a shounen anime that follows the adventures of the Vongola clan, Italy's most powerful mafia family, and the story of the chosen seven, known as "arcobalenos." Tsunayoshi Sawada, an ordinary high schooler, meets Reborn, an infant-like arcobaleno who trains him how to become the Vongola family's next master.

Hitman Reborn is an entertaining and great anime with phenomenal opening and ending songs, likeable characters, amusing moments, and flawless action scenes, despite its underappreciation. Unfortunately, the anime did not garner positive reviews and was not renewed for a second season. However, Reborn! is a wonderful anime that will make you wish there were more episodes to watch.

  2. Shaman King

With 38 million manga copies in circulation, Hiroyuki Takei is proud of his work as the first to employ "shamanism" in the animation industry.

The anime depicts the world of shamans and humans, with the main protagonist Yoh Asakura being an ambitious yet laid-back shaman. It depicts the story of Yoh Asakura and his comrades' desire of winning the Shaman Fight and becoming the Shaman King.

Shaman King is a decent movie for individuals whose interests are grounded by a fast-paced shounen setting that cuts through the chase, with high stakes, killer music, and action-oriented moments. In case you're curious, the original anime had a lot of filler, but the remake chooses to delete a lot of sequences, allowing fans to choose their own version.

  4. YuYu Hakusho

In three words, Yu Yu Hakusho is "old but gold." The anime, which debuted in 1992, is still well-liked by fans of the genre. Not only do the anime's protagonists stand out, but the antagonists, particularly the Toguro brothers, are also memorable. Rewatching this series never gets old because Urameshi Yusuke's iconic ray-gun, which resembles a Kamehameha but is fired with his index finger, never fails to amaze viewers.

Yu Yu Hakusho follows the adventures of Yusuke Urameshi, a 15-year-old delinquent, and his ties with the Underworld after his untimely death. Yusuke meets Koenma in the afterlife, who offers him the chance to become an Underworld Detective in exchange for his resurrection.

The four of them, along with his friends Kuwabara, Kurama, and Hiei, compete in the Dark Tournament, also known as the Dark Martial Arts Association, where they must face the former human-turned demon Togoru and his comrades.

  5. Flame of Recca

Another oldie but a goodie joins our list, with shounen elements comparable to Yu Yu Hakusho. Flame of Recca is Nobuyuki Anzai's masterpiece, telling the story of high-schooler Recca Hanabishi, who aspires to be a shinobi and offers his services to anyone who can defeat him.

Recca is apparently the son of the Hokage clan's sixth-generation leader, who has the ability to control flame dragons. They enter the Ura Buto Satsujin Tournament for mystical object wielders with his friends and teammates Domon Ishijima, Fuko Arisawa, Tokiya Mikigami, and Kaoru Koganei.

Flame of Recca, with its decent story, fluid action scenes, memorable characters, and catchy music, allows viewers to immerse themselves in the world of shinobi and mystical object wielders. Aside from that, the anime has an easy-to-follow narrative that will make anyone wish they could control Recca's dragon flames.

Aside from Dragon Ball, the Naruto franchise ranks high on the list of the best anime of all time. Like Bleach, Naruto is a popular anime and manga series with a large cult following. I've seen every piece of Naruto material available, and I must say that despite having some of the longest fillers ever, the anime never fails to impress me. It is a masterpiece by genius mangaka Masashi Kishimoto and has been published since September of 1999.

Naruto follows the main character, Uzumaki Naruto, as he embarks on an action-packed adventure to fulfill his dream of becoming a Hokage. The plot delves into the world of ninjas, or "Shinobi," and their various jutsus, or techniques. It's an incredible anime that will keep you entertained with its fighting scenes, comedy, drama, and real-life struggles. Dattebayo!

  8. Gintama

Gintama is a masterpiece that follows the story of Gintoki Sakata, the mischievous silver-haired samurai from Edo who has a small business for odd jobs called Yorozuya. It is one of the funniest anime ever created with a great variety. Despite the ban on carrying swords, Gintoki wields a wooden sword in order to rebel against the powerful aliens known as "Amanto."

Together with his allies, the aspiring samurai Shipachi Shimura and the superhuman Kagura, they try to keep peace in Yorozuya while fighting aliens and local gangs in their daily lives.

Gintama is one of the most recommended anime ever for fans of comedy and parody, and it deserves to be considered a flagship for the anime genre. Gintama has a lot of meme-worthy scenes that the majority of the anime community loves to this day, thanks to its fresh take on shounen anime.

While the number one holder can only be challenged by the second man on the list, Afro is left to deal with numerous enemies as he fights to survive and exact revenge on his father.

Afro Samurai leans more into the American style of animation rather than the usual Japanese style and design. With only five episodes running at 27 minutes each, it is a short anime that deviates from unnecessary plot threads and goes straight to business. It is an amazing and intense anime full of brutal scenes that are only intended for mature viewers. Trust me, this is a must-watch!
