Bereaved and exhausted from his life as a detective, Kimizuka is ready to live a normal life as an unassuming student. But no sooner does he enter the school building than a classmate approaches him with a strange request. Nagisa Natsunagi needs help to discover a person she feels compelled to find. What complicates matters is that she doesn't know the person's name, age, or appearance. In fact, she has never seen this person.
Conversing with her, Kimizuka finds out that Nagisa underwent a heart transplant surgery a year ago. It appears that the heart which saved her life still has a will of its own, so it now prompts her to find a person who was dear to its previous owner. To no one's surprise, the end of the episode reveals that the donor is Siesta, who wanted to reunite with Kimizuka.
Kimizuka initially dismisses this as a coincidence, but he doesn't manage to remain stoic for long. The seemingly supernatural occurrence is too strange to explain, and the boy can't help expressing his grief for what he and Siesta had - and lost. While he's still processing everything, a girl with an eyepatch appears and asks for his help.
