Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Season 2 Pays Tribute to Late Director Yasuhiro Takemoto

It has been a long wait but Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Season 2 is finally here. The premiere episode doesn't waste time in introducing a new dragon and getting Tohru into action. However, Episode 1 also had a heartwarming tribute to the late series director Yasuhiro Takemoto.

The credits of the premiere episode listed Takemoto as the series director. Takemoto had originally worked on the first season and was supposed to return for Season 2 before his untimely passing during the arson attack on the Kyoto Animation studios.

Although Takemoto was not able to work on Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Season 2, there is little doubt that the animator's legacy lives on in the anime. With that in mind, it is truly touching to see that Takemoto was credited posthumously in the second season.

The first episode of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S introduced Ilulu, a dragon from the Chaos Faction who berates Tohru for living with a human. This leads to a fight where Tohru is overwhelmed as she tries to protect the city rather than defend herself.

Luckily, Kobayashi had a plan that would help Tohru. She enlists Elma's help to use sweets to empower Tohru, allowing the dragon maid to summon all her power and defeat Ilulu.

However, Ilulu isn't one who takes defeat so easily. She immediately tries to seduce Kobayashi but is promptly turned down. Thinking that she was rejected because she is also female, Ilulu transforms Kobayashi into a man.

The second episode of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Season 2 is titled Hot Guy Kobayashi! (In Many Ways) and will premiere on Thursday, July 15, 2021.
