The premiere of Yellowjackets Season 2 is still a couple of weeks away but people are already looking forward to the return of Lottie. After all, she was the most mysterious character from the first season and we will finally get to learn what happened to her in the Wilderness. So what will the adult Lottie be like in the second season? Simone Kessell discussed some interesting details about her character, confirming that Lottie's return is far from normal.
It was previously announced that Simone Kessell will portray the adult Lottie in Yellowjackets Season 2. Since then, the Obi-Wan Kenobi actor has been staying quiet about the role. However, Kessell did share some new details about adult Lottie with Entertainment Weekly.
"Charlotte has completely recreated herself as a survivor," Kessell said. "She's healed. She's created a way to push the darkness down."
It's an interesting revelation considering that the last time we saw Lottie (as a teenager played by Courtney Eaton), it was confirmed that she is the Antler Queen and has offered a bear's heart to the Wilderness, seemingly embracing the darkness. Is Kessell simply teasing her character's recovery or is the darkness still lurking somewhere?
Whatever it is, co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco assures that Lottie will be doing great things in the second season.
"We're hoping that even the Lottie you've seen so far in the wilderness can come across not as a cult leader or the overt founder of a new religion but rather as a kind of reluctant messiah through which the darkness can speak," Lisco said. "She doesn't want to be this person, it's not a choice, it's an inexorable feeling that she has that she must communicate to the others."
We're loving the tease and we can't wait to meet adult Lottie later this month.
Yellowjackets Season 2 will premiere on Showtime on March 26, 2023.
