Showtime has finally revealed the official release date of Yellowjackets Season 2, along with a new teaser. The clip teases another intense turn of events, as seen in its series of ominous scenes.
The trailer shows a snowy Canadian wilderness, hearts drawn in blood, and a mysterious Yellowjackets symbol carved into a blood-stained tree. So, what does it mean in Yellowjackets Season 2?
The Cryptic Trailer for Yellowjackets Season 2
The cryptic images in the trailer center on the show’s 1996 plane crash storyline. The 15-second clip is nothing but extreme, with all the blood featured before it finally reveals its release date on March 24, 2023.
TVLine explained that the second season would officially be out on March 26, though subscribers could start streaming the premiere episode two days earlier, on March 24.
However, the March release date is believed to be a little delayed after the network’s president promised to drop it later this year.
“We are working towards a premiere at the end of 2022,” Showtime Networks president of entertainment Gary Levine told Vulture earlier this year. “When you have a show that has this kind of a momentum, you don’t want to let it dissolve.”
Yellowjackets Season 2 will feature the new cast members Lauren Ambrose as the adult Van, Simone Kessell as the adult Lottie, and Elijah Woods as the Citizen Detective Walter.
What Will Happen in Yellowjackets Season 2?
The previous season successfully established the past and present storylines of the series’ major cast members.
Hence, the second season will expand the show’s roster while continuously exploring the events during the plane crash.
The first season ended with the revelation that Lottie (Courtney Eaton) might have something to do with Travis Martinez’s (Kevin Alves) death. From there, Yellowjackets Season 2 will introduce Lottie and Van’s adult versions.
Of course, the upcoming season will answer a lot of questions and mysteries the debut season left, like the things the survivors have gone through to survive and discrepancies between the present and past storylines.
As the showrunner Jonathan Lisco put it, Yellowjackets Season 2 will reveal why Jackie’s (Ella Purnell) diary still has entries after she died in 1996. It will also address the fate of the young Shauna's (Nélisse) child, knowing her daughter Callie (Sarah Desjardins) is probably not that kid.
