The fourth chapter of John Wick has been released and with it comes a commonly asked question: will there be a John Wick: Chapter 5?
We can recall that in August 2020, it was announced that Lionsgate planned to shoot John Wick: Chapter 4 back-to-back with John Wick: Chapter 5. But down the line, Lionsgate decided to just make the fourth installment. This makes us wonder if there will be more in the franchise following this film's release.

Will There Be a John Wick: Chapter 5?
According to leading man, Keanu Reeves, there is doubt on whether Lionsgate plans to make a fifth movie.
In an interview with Total Film, Reeves said:
"You have to see how the audience responds to what we did. The only reason we've had a chance to make these movies is that people have liked what we have done. So I think we have to wait and see how the audience responds to it. Hopefully they'll like it."
The delay of John Wick: Chapter 4 was partly because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions it brought with it. Not to mention, Reeves had commitments to the fourth The Matrix film, The Matrix Resurrections, which was released in 2021.
Lionsgate's Joe Drake told IGN:
"John Wick 4 was embraced enough by the critics and the audience that it’s kind of an organic and natural next step to do John Wick 5. I think that there’s no question that it’s in development, but right now the story isn’t there yet. And until the story is there, it isn’t… It’s real on something we’re trying to figure out. But we haven’t settled on what that movie looks like or feels like."
How Many John Wick Spinoff Movies Are in Development?
Although the future of John Wick: Chapter 5 has not yet been decided upon, the good news is that there are two other spin-off movies that are currently in development.
The first, called The Continental, is a prequel mini-series. It will focus on the iconic hotel and how it turned out to be the notorious location of the world's best criminals and assassins.
One thing we're looking forward to seeing in The Continental is the return of the well-known John Wick characters as their younger selves, including Winston who is portrayed by Ian McShane in the franchise. His younger self will be played by Colin Woodell. Mel Gibson has also been confirmed to star in The Continental as Cormac.
The second John Wick spin-off that has been confirmed is Ballerina, which stars Ana de Armas. The confirmed appearances in this spin-off movie include Winston (played by Ian McShane), Charon (played by Lance Reddick), The Director (played by Anjelica Huston), and John Wick (played by Keanu Reeves). It was also recently reported that Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus have been cast in undisclosed roles.
