Netflix released its newest show, called Beef, on April 6, 2023. Even though it's only been a couple of days since the show dropped, many are already asking if there will be a second season.

Beef is a thrilling dramedy that stars Ali Wong (as Amy Lau) and Steven Yeun (as Danny Cho), two somewhat passive aggressive individuals who finally decide to take action with their lives. The two encounter each other in a road rage incident, which leads to them inexplicably becoming linked in the future.

Although their revenge on each start out as pranks, it later becomes serious and even negatively affects their loved ones. So when they realize that things have gotten way too far, it's already too late.

With its cliffhanger ending, we can't help but wonder the same thing: will there be a Beef Season 2? Here's what we know so far.

As of the moment, Netflix has not yet renewed Beef to return for a second season. While it's still too early to tell whether there will be a Beef Season 2 or not, the show has gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews. It has even earned a 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer and 97% score from its audience.

Its show creator, Lee Sung Jin, has shown interest in continuing the story between Danny and Amy; especially since they both seemed to have just started becoming at peace with their situation. But as Lee told Elle:

“Cards on the table, we did pitch this show as a limited anthology, so there is sort of a close-ended-ness to the story [of Danny and Amy]. But, if given the opportunity, of course, I'd love to explore them further, because Danny and Amy, I love those characters. But yeah, by design, though, this a close-ended narrative.”

What Is the Potential Story for Beef Season 2?

Since Lee explained that the show's ending was the end for both Danny and Amy, we probably won't get to know what happens to them. It's possible that the two become friends so there's not much beef to follow after that.

If the show does get renewed for a second season, Lee shared that he wants to explore "multiple other beefs and other character types," just like what other shows like The White Lotus and True Detective have done.
