Steven Yeun is one actor that earned recognition for his portrayal of Glenn Rhee in the zombie TV series, The Walking Dead. The actor was part of the series between 2010 and 2016. When his character was suddenly killed in The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 1, many quit watching the show. Yeun's character was one that many admired. But ever since then, Yeun has been involved in a number of projects that did not really gain as much popularity as the show.

Hopefully, his latest show will earn recognition for the actor, especially since it shows a different side of the 39-year-old actor.

Steven Yeun stars as independent contractor Danny Cho in Netflix's newest show called Beef. The show follows the story of Danny as he encounters a road rage incident with businesswoman Amy Lau (played by Ali Wong). The two, however, can't seem to get past the incident as they start taunting each other in their homes and private lives. They start leaving behind threatening voice messages to each other and making fake personas just so they can get involved in the lives of their loved ones.

After a year of dealing with each other, things take a dangerous turn when other people get involved. And the two realize this when it's too late, other people have been hurt. It's crazy to think everything just started from a road rage incident.

One of the most notable scenes in Beef is the episode when things seem to start looking up for the two. After eight months of not being involved in each other's business, it finally looks like Amy and Danny were able to let go of the incident.

Beef Episode 7 entitled I Am A Cage starts off with Amy enjoying a quiet afternoon, swimming with her family in their new vacation house. A voice in the background sings Amazing Grace and the scene transitions to Danny holding a microphone up. He has become their church's worship leader and is singing from his heart. Now we can't help but ask-- is that really Steven Yeun singing in Beef?

And as it turns out, it really is Steven Yeun singing Amazing Grace! In fact, there are other old YouTube videos of Yeun singing popular songs.

In an interview with Skip Intro (via Netflix Tudum), Yeun said that the experience "was fun." He also shared that he used to lead praise at his church.

Yeun also shared that he regularly attended a Korean church when he was young. His character, Danny, broke down in tears in the show after attending service for the first time in years. Yeun could relate to this since he was in his late 20s when he went back to church.

“I just found myself nearing tears every single time they start singing praise songs. I’m just like, ‘Why am I about to cry? What is happening?’”

Speaking on the episode where he sang, Yeun shared that Amazing Grace wasn't difficult to perform.

"It wasn’t difficult to necessarily perform that,” he said, “but it was surprising to see the final rendering that was captured on camera and to watch yourself. Because it wasn’t a calculated thing where I was like, ‘I’m going to make sure I jump this much, or I call out this much, or I play this like this.’ It was just like, ‘What will it be if I just try to go back to what I used to do back in high school, and let’s just see what that looks like on camera.’ That’s what you get."

True enough, this is what the director captured for Beef.
