Netflix is working with A24 for a new series called Beef.
The comedy-drama was first announced in 2021 but it looks like things are slowly progressing for the show. After spending several months in post-production, it looks like the first season of Beef will finally be ready to air on the streaming service this year.
Here's what we know about Beef right now:
When Is Beef Coming Out on Netflix?
While the show was announced in 2021, it wasn't until January 31, 2022 when filming started. The cast members ended filming on May 10, 2022.
Right now, there is no definite date on when Beef will be released on Netflix. But since the show spent most of 2022 in post-production, it's likely that it will be ready to air this year.
Netflix released official photos of the show along with a release date set for April 6, 2023.
How Many Episodes Will There Be On Beef?
According to reports, Beef is a fast-paced show that will only have a total of 10 episodes in the first season. Each episode lasts around thirty minutes.
What Is Beef Series Story About?
We don't have much information on the plot of Beef except for its official logline on Netflix, which reads:
“Beef follows two people who let a road rage incident burrow into their minds and slowly consume their every thought and action.”
It's possible that the story for Beef was inspired by a real traffic incident that its showrunner Sung-Jin Lee experienced. In a press release for the show, the TV writer said:
“Ali Wong, Steven Yeun, A24 and Netflix. It’s a dream team, and I’m honored to be collaborating with them. I’m also grateful to the guy who yelled at me in traffic three years ago. I did not let it go, and now we have a show.”
Netflix's Vice President of Drama Development and Original Series, Jinny Howe, also commented:
“We are incredibly excited to collaborate with Lee Sung Jin and help bring this rich series to life along with the inimitable Steven Yeun and Ali Wong. Sung Jin has created a bold and at times outrageous world. It is an honest and powerful character study of two people who go about searching for connection in the unlikeliest of ways.”
Hopefully, we get more information on the story of Beef soon.
Recently, Netflix released more details about the story of Beef, along with first look photos of the show.
The official synopsis of the show reads:
“Beef follows the aftermath of a road rage incident between two strangers. Danny Cho, a failing contractor with a chip on his shoulder, goes head-to-head with Amy Lau, a self-made entrepreneur with a picturesque life. The increasing stakes of their feud unravel their lives and relationships in this darkly comedic and deeply moving series.
It turns out that Steven Yeun will play the role of Danny Cho, a failing contractor who figures into an accident with a self-made entrepreneur, Amy Lau (played by Ali Wong). From that moment on, their lives become intertwined.
