DC just released a second trailer for the upcoming The Flash movie, which is the 13th film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). In The Flash Movie, Barry Allen/The Flash travels back in time to prevent his mother’s death, but doing so brings grave consequences.

Fans of DC know that Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne kills Barry’s mother and that his father was framed for the murder. This story was seen in The Flash TV series starring Grant Gustin.

So if the movie follows Barry Allen traveling back in time to save his mother, then Reverse Flash should probably be in the film, right? But Reverse Flash is nowhere to be seen in The Flash trailer, so will The Flash movie have Reverse Flash?

No, Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne won’t be in The Flash movie (at least, for now, based on the trailers).

The trailers for The Flash movie show that the villain will be General Zod, a Kryptonian with the same powers as Superman who was killed off in Man of Steel (2013). In the trailer, we see General Zod waging war on Earth, with Supergirl agreeing to help The Flash stop him.

However, even if Reverse Flash might not be in The Flash movie, it has been speculated that apart from General Zod, another villain in the film will be Dark Flash. As reported by We Got This Covered, Dark Flash will be an evil doppelganger of Barry Allen and could serve as a stand-in for Reverse Flash based on the fact that he wears the same color that Reverse Flash does: yellow.

Furthermore, this theory is supported by the fact that The Flash trailers show two versions of Barry Allen. Additionally, merchandise for The Flash movie circulated online, which includes Dark Flash.

Questions will be answered when The Flash movie comes out. And even if we don’t get Reverse Flash in the film, there are still many things to look forward to in the upcoming Flash movie: two versions of Batman (Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck), how The Flash movie will affect the DCEU and the DCU, and many more.

For now, you can watch the new trailer for The Flash movie below:

The Flash official synopsis, as provided by DC:

Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
