For the past decade, Grant Gustin has played Barry Allen for nine seasons and almost 200 episodes on The CW’s The Flash. The CW TV series is currently in its final season, with Season 9 consisting of 13 episodes. The final season reportedly marks the end of Grant Gustin’s role as the Flash.

However, following Gustin’s legacy as DC TV’s Flash and The Flash Movie’s official merchandise, there have been speculations that Grant Gustin will be in The Flash movie.

The Flash Movie’s Official Visual Companion Has Grant Gustin on It

The Direct reported that an Official Visual Companion for The Flash movie, titled “The Scarlet Speedster From Page to Screen” features Grant Gustin as the Flash. The cover features Ezra Miller’s Flash in the center, surrounded by multiple versions of the Flash from the comics, video games, and shows. Gustin’s Flash is also featured among them, which seemingly suggests a potential cameo in the film.

Since the Visual Companion is considered to be an “encyclopedia” of The Flash movie, it could tease Gustin’s appearance in the film. However, the companion’s subtitle is “The Scarlet Speedster From Page to Screen”. Thus, it could mean that the companion merely includes a history of the Flash character. But, on the other hand, it could also show ties between the Arrowverse’s and DCEU’s Flash.

The upcoming Flash movie follows the DCEU's version of Barry Allen as he travels back in time to prevent his mother's death. However, in doing so, he creates an alternate reality in which metahumans like himself do not exist. He then asks for help from heroes from alternate dimensions, including Michael Keaton’s Batman and Supergirl (played by Sasha Calle) to save this new timeline while he tries to return to his own.

There will obviously be multiple timelines and multiverses involved in the upcoming Flash film. There are also many heroes expected to appear, such as Ben Affleck’s Batman. So, what about Grant Gustin? With the film being based on the DC Comic’s Flashpoint, there seems to be no barrier to put another version of the Flash.

An actual DCEU and Arrowverse crossover already happened in the past anyway. After everyone thought that the Arrowverse and DCEU had no connection, the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover changed everything.

The DCEU’s Flash Ezra Miller appeared on the fourth episode of the Crisis crossover event. The scene took place at STAR Labs, with Barry struggling to enter the Speed Force. He then meets Movie Flash. At first, the two of them get confused with the situation, but they end up admiring each other’s suits. Before Movie Flash faded away, he said “I told Victor this was possible.”

With multiverses and alternate dimensions in place, it’s possible that the two versions of the Flash can meet once again.

Will The Flash Movie Have Grant Gustin?

There is no official confirmation of Grant Gustin appearing in the upcoming Flash film. But then again, there was no official confirmation of Ezra Miller appearing in the Arrowverse either. Thus, if Gustin does have a cameo in the film, and if he did shoot something for the film, then his surprise cameo is safe (for now).

Additionally, there are some theories suggesting that Gustin’s Flash will replace Miller’s Flash, following controversies surrounding the latter actor.

If Gustin does appear in the film, it would be the second time the two Flashes have crossed paths. For fans, it will seem natural if both Flashes appear in each other’s works. However, with James Gunn taking over the DCU and making many changes, past rumors and theories could no longer be accurate. And with the CW’s Flash ending, it may be Gustin’s last appearance as the Scarlet Speedster.

We’re only gonna get our answers once The Flash movie comes out on June 16. For now, you can watch the trailer of The Flash movie below:

The Flash movie comes out in theaters on June 16, while The Flash Season 9 airs every Wednesday on The CW.
