Tanjiro Kamado is the main protagonist of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, one of the popular anime and manga today. He joined the Demon Slayer Corps, an organization that dedicated its life to protect humans from demons, after his family was massacred and they turned his sister into a demon. His goal is to turn his sister back into a human.
Since Tanjiro is a skilled Demon Slayer, fans have been wondering if he ever became a Hashira towards the end of the manga. For those who are not aware, a Hashira is an elite Demon Slayer that has powerful combats. To become a Hashira, the Demon Slayer must be of high rank, second to the leader. Will Tanjiro become a Hashira? Let's find out!
Will Tanjiro Become a Hashira in Demon Slayer Explained
Before we answer the question, there are a few things that fans must know. All aspiring demon slayers must pass the Final Selection to become a member of the organization. There are different ranks:
Demon slayers must complete their missions to reach the highest rank, which is Kinoe. The qualifications for Hashiras are a bit different. A Demon Slayer must kill 50 demons or kill a member of the Twelve Kizuki, the demons who are under Muzan.
Tanjiro was personally trained by Urokodaki, the previous Water Hashira, under Giyu Tomioka's recommendation. He made Tanjiro his disciple and even taught him a difficult sword technique, which was the Breath of the Water. Tanjiro was able to master Full Focus Breathing that only Harshias can do. Even better, Tanjiro can do the Dance of the Fire God and unlocked the See-through World Ability.
If we will base Tanjiro's skills and the qualifications to be a Hashira, it is no doubt that Tanjiro must become a Hashira. He was the one who defeated Muzan, so that alone is enough reason to make him an elite swordsman.
Unfortunately, this does not happen in the manga. After Muzan was defeated, the Demon Slayer Corps, along with the Hashiras, disbanded as there is no reason for the organization to continue.
