The long wait is over! Finally, the next film in the franchise has been announced and it will be Transformers 7: Rise of the Beasts, a direct sequel to the Bumblebee film and one which is heavily influenced by the Beast Wars story. Will Optimus Prime be in Transformers 7: Rise of the Beasts?
Of course, he will be as he is confirmed to be the star and the main focus of Transformers 7: Rise of the Beasts! The storyline will follow Optimus Prime with a setting in 1994 with two beautiful places named: Brooklyn, New York, and Machu Picchu, Peru. Though Michael Bay will be having a pass in this one, the film will be directed by Steven Caple Jr.
Following Bumblebee, Optimus Prime is set to get the G1 treatment with the design of the character and we're going old-school in this one, much to the excitement of the fans. Elements of the Beast Wars cartoon is expected to appear in this film and it could introduce to the live-action franchise various factions like Maximals, Terrorcons, and Predacons.
Taking all of us back in the ‘90s, the original G1 design of Optimus Prime would definitely be a thrill to everyone! More than that, it has also been confirmed that the person who voiced Optimus Prime before will be back: Peter Cullen. It will be focusing on the origins of Optimus Prime and what really urged him to fight alongside humanity.
Looking at the timeline, Transformers 7: Rise of the Beasts is set in 1994 and it will be just in between the Transformers films and Bumblebee. Despite the backlash that Transformers: The Last Knight received, Bumblebee was able to revive the franchise with a more contained story and a connection to the cartoon version of Transformers. With Optimus Prime having the same Bumblebee treatment, it would be the right call and the potential here is definitely huge.
Transformers 7: Rise of the Beasts will be starring Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback with Optimus Prime voiced by Peter Cullen. The film would be a joint-venture production of eOne and Paramount Pictures.
Transformers 7: Rise of the Beast is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 24, 2022.
