For the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe history of the team, they are splitting up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but what lies ahead for each of the characters, especially Mantis? Will she be returning? If so, when?

Will Mantis Return After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
Mantis has been a pivotal character to the team since her introduction in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where they encountered her in Ego's planet.
Over the years, Mantis became a Guardian of her own right, even to the point of playing a pivotal role when the heroes faced Thanos during the Infinity Saga.
Her character arc has been one of the biggest and one of the most colorful as, aside from her abilities, her personality bursts.
Aside from being the empath of the Guardians, Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special even set up her real relationship with Star-Lord -- they are siblings because they share the same father, Ego.
However, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the siblings part ways with the rest of the team. Star-Lord chose to meet his grandfather on Earth.
As for Mantis, she wants to follow her own path and make her own life choices.

Mantis pointed out that throughout her life, she has been following the will of others, and now, after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it might be the perfect time for her to find out what she wants for herself.
That being said, Mantis did not go without protection because she has three new companions -- the abilisks that she comforted from the ship of the High Evolutionary.
With that, Mantis left the team and that makes her, potentially, a character that could literally pop up anywhere in the MCU.
The possibilities for Mantis just became endless and she could even play a role in any of the upcoming MCU movies.
Better, Mantis could find her voice and herself in the process, and she could literally be the best version of herself.
One thing's sure -- Mantis could return anywhere and anytime.
