In the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films, Peter consistently tried to woo Gamora, but she refused his advances. However, her feelings for Peter were confirmed in Avengers: Infinity War, with her telling Peter that she loved him “more than anything” before Peter tried to fire a blaster into her heart.

Their romance was cut short because Gamora was sacrificed by her father Thanos, leaving a heartbroken Peter Quill.

We saw a different version of Gamora in Avengers: Endgame. While Peter was excited to see Gamora on the battlefield and said “I thought I lost you”, Gamora didn't feel the same.

It seems like he lost her indeed because the Gamora that came back was a version who didn’t meet Peter and the Guardians. The new one now was never a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

At the beginning of the film, Peter is heartbroken over the loss of Gamora and ends up getting drunk every day because of this.

He says that he loses everyone in his life – his mom, Yondu, and now Gamora. The Guardians remind him that Gamora is still alive, but it’s just another version of her.

Later on, the Guardians journey to Orgosphere to obtain information to save Rocket’s life. Peter then finds out that Nebula’s been in contact with her sister all along, but Gamora only agrees to help them because Nebula promised her money.

Later on, the Guardians go through space, and Peter pours out his heart to Gamora. He tells her “I miss you so much, and maybe if you open yourself up to it, there’s a possibility…” Gamora cuts him off by saying “I don’t think so, Quinn”.

While Peter is still very much in love with Gamora, the latter doesn’t even remember him and can’t even get his name right.

Throughout the movie, while Peter tries to convince Gamora to open herself to the possibility of a romance between them again, Gamora consistently reminds him that she’s not the woman who loved him. She even thinks it’s impossible for another version of her to love him.

So, at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Peter didn’t win over the new Gamora, and both of them don’t end up together.

Nebula decides to stay in Knowhere and help rebuild the city. She then asks Drax to help raise the rescued children because she realized that Drax wasn’t born to be a “destroyer”, but that he can actually be a dad.
