Will Call of Duty: Vanguard Have a FOV Slider?

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has a FOV slider on console, but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 and Call of Duty: Warzone do not, much to the displeasure of those games' communities who actively cry out for a slider to be introduced. Will Call of Duty: Vanguard have a FOV slider? In this article, we're answering that question.

First off, if you don't know, a FOV slider is an adjustable setting in-game that allows the user to tweak their field of view. This refers to how much you can see on-screen without having to turn around. Higher fields of view let the player see considerably more of the action and give them more opportunities to spot enemies. Lower fields of view often can make gamers feel claustrophobic and can actively be a competitive disadvantage.

Now, will Vanguard have a FOV slider? We will definitely see one on PC, and there's no slider in the Vanguard Champion Hill Alpha on PlayStation or in the Vanguard Early Access Beta on PlayStation. But the lead developer of Sledgehammer Games recently confirmed on his Twitter that Vanguard on consoles will receive a FOV slider at launch.

While the lack of a FOV slider in the Champion Hill Alpha might seem like bad news, Black Ops Cold War didn't receive a FOV slider until its beta release. It's entirely possible the Vanguard Alpha is an older build of the game that hadn't yet seen the introduction of a FOV slider, which was later added.

Plus, it's important to remember that the Call of Duty devs themselves know how much gamers want FOV sliders in their games. Raven Software, the developer of Warzone, has gone on record saying that a FOV slider is in development and is a priority for the team, though there isn't yet a release window for the feature.

Not only that, if you're a PC gamer, FOV sliders are everyday things essentially all big-budget first-person video games have, and these games include Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare. For PC, we can expect that like other Call of Duty games, it will include a FOV slider.

Treyarch will be handling Vanguard's zombie component, and Raven is handling Vanguard's Warzone integration as well as the development of a new Warzone map inspired by Vanguard. So, Sledgehammer will have the time to focus on bringing features gamers want to Vanguard's multiplayer, likely more so than they did during the development of Call of Duty: WWII.

Accordingly, it makes sense a FOV slider will return to Call of Duty on consoles and PC for Call of Duty: Vanguard. It also makes sense that since the upcoming Warzone update that brings with it a new map will be running on the Vanguard engine that Warzone too will get a FOV slider.
