The main protagonist of the series is Tris Prior who later found out she was Divergent, one which does not fit in just a single faction, but the government hunts the likes of her down. Two films followed the first with Insurgent as the second and Allegiant as the third.
A fourth film was supposed to be released, Ascendant, which would have been a TV movie, however, it is not certain whether it would still release following the refusal of lead star Shailene Woodley, playing Tris Prior, to participate in the adaptation as her contract stipulates that she would be part of a theatrical film. The status of the movie remains unknown.
