The CW has been airing Dynasty since 2017. The drama is based on the 1980s soap of the same title. When it started airing, it earned a People's Choice Awards for the best Revival Show in 2018. Ever since that first season, Dynasty has been renewed for five more seasons.

Because of its success, the show was picked up by Netflix, which is now airing four seasons.

But when will Dynasty Season 5 be available on the streaming service? Will it be coming out in August? Here's what we know about the show right now.

Normally in the US, The CW shows get picked up by Netflix around 8 days after the finale airs. But in 2021, this pattern was broken because of several delays. Now that things have slowly gotten back on track, we might see Dynasty Season 5 get aired on Netflix a week after the finale on The CW.

Unfortunately, it looks like Dynasty Season 5 won't be available on Netflix in August 2022. The filming schedule won't finish until late in the summer. And adding to that is the expected date for the final episode, which will be on September 30th.

The fifth season was released on Netflix on September 24, 2022.

Sadly, Dynasty has been canceled after its fifth season. This means that we won't expect to see the characters we love to return to our screens for a sixth season.

The CW has been canceling a number of its shows. Some of its popular shows have also not been renewed. Partly, this is because of its impending sale. Another possible reason why Dynasty was canceled was because of its disappointing ratings. Deadline reveals that the previous renewals were motivated by the money Netflix paid as part of its deal.

The other shows that The CW axed include Batwoman, In The Dark, 4400, Naomi, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Charmed, Legacies, and Roswell: New Mexico.

When news of its cancellation broke out, some of the main cast turned to social media to express their frustrations. One of them, Elizabeth Gillies (as Fallon Carrington), posted a (now-deleted) Instagram post saying: "Mommy & Daddy are on a mission Saving the goodbyes for a later post since we still have 12 fantastic episodes for you to enjoy and 6 more to shoot! Tomorrow's is a great one. Don't miss it."

Meanwhile, Rafael de la Fuente (as Samuel Josiah) posted a photo on Instagram and said: "A true privilege. It has been one crazy, beautiful ride. Even though season 5 will be the last, my gratitude is everlasting."

Even though the announcement was made, avid fans couldn't help but wish the show would be renewed for a sixth season, especially since it is on Netflix. Unfortunately, the previous seasons of the show had low ratings on The CW.

Not to mention, the deal between The CW and Netflix expired in 2019. This led several shows to get cancelled.

Dynasty Season 5 Story

Dynasty Season 5 will have a total of 22 episodes. It will likely pick up on the finale of Dynasty Season 4, which ended with Fallon getting shot by Eva during an event for Blake's campaign. We'll likely know what will happen after that incident in Season 5, which promises to be full of drama.

Some reports suggest some surprises between Blake and Cristal as they work on his campaign. Meanwhile, Alexis will remain in jail after she gets set up by Adam. And finally, Amanda will be on the hunt for who could be responsible for murder.

In December, a promo was shared for Dynasty Season 5. The trailer shows Blake saying "this is definitely not the most wonderful time of the year."

There is also no clue about Fallon's condition after getting shot by Eva. But killing off her character seems a little unlikely. You can watch the teaser here:

Meanwhile, an official Dynasty Season 5 trailer has been released since then. The trailer gives us a glimpse of the new character joining the season, Amanda, who is a Carrington relative from Europe. The trailer suggests that Fallon might be alive and struggling after getting shot by her aide.
