Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman Officially Canceled by The CW

A while ago, we learned that some DC shows such as Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow on The CW are reportedly in danger as the network is still contemplating their fate, especially with the latter whose possibility of getting a chance to have their last season even in limbo. Now, we finally know their official decision.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The CW has officially canceled Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman after their seventh and third seasons, respectively. This leaves Superman & Lois, The Flash, and potentially Naomi and Gotham Knights (if it receives a series order soon) as the only DC shows to go forward to next season. This decision comes after Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global are considering selling the network with Nexstar as the leading candidate.

Legends of Tomorrow co-showrunner Keto Shimuzu took to Twitter to share her sadness regarding the news after the decision was made. "Well, folks. It’s been an incredible run. However, the CW has let us know that there will be no season 8 of #LegendsOfTomorrow. We are heartbroken, but also immensely grateful for the amazing work our cast, crew, and writers have contributed to the little show that could," she wrote.

Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries also tweeted her sadness about the series' cancellation as well as star Javicia Leslie, who took over to play the titular hero after Ruby Rose abruptly left by the end of the first season. "Just got the sad news that #Batwoman will not be seeing an S4. I am bummed, but full of gratitude," Dries wrote. "What an honor to make 51 episodes. So many inspiring, brilliant people contributed to this series. Thank you producers, cast and crew. Thank you, fans! We love you."

Despite the disappointing news for the two aforementioned shows, this bodes well for Naomi and Gotham Knights, whose chances of being part of the next broadcast season are more likely now and we should be hearing the network's decision on them very soon.

It is unfortunate to hear that the two shows are now canceled, especially Legends of Tomorrow since they were not given a chance to have the last season to conclude the show in their own way. Fortunately, there are plenty of episodes that we can go back to in both shows and there is no denying that they were able to entertain a lot of audience during their run.
