For weeks, The CW has been on the news for the cancellation of the shows on their roster because it’s not always happening that the cut would be almost or more than half. Legacies was one of those series but the president of the network made a promise to assure the viewers that there would be a proper finale.
Fans took it hard upon learning of the cancellation of Legacies which has been aired as a spin-off of The Originals and featuring characters from The Vampire Diaries. During The CW’s press conference, The CW president Mark Pedowitz said, "There will be a proper series finale. I do know from talking to Julie, there is a perfect proper season finale, series finale."
The CW's Legacies bears its namesake for two reasons: the cast and characters are considered as such, and it continues what its predecessors have started in an epic fantasy drama series. A legacy could be used as a term for someone who carries the torch passed onto them, a descendant.
For Legacies, it is about Hope, the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall, a legacy from the most powerful bloodlines of witches, vampires, and wolves. She learns about her skills and abilities under Alaric Saltzman, who first appeared in the Vampire Diaries and is now the headmaster of Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.
The series debuted in 2018 and has been renewed for another one the following year. By January 2021, the third season premiered. Only a month after the first episode of the third season has been released, the series has been renewed by The CW for a fourth season, which, unfortunately marks their last before the cancellation.
The series releases new episodes on The CW every Thursday night. It could be accessed through a livestream as well on DirecTV, FuboTV, and YouTube TV, and on CW.com and The CW app the morning after its release on the cable TV channel.
Legacies Season 4 Episode 18 will return on The CW on June 2, 2022 after a hiatus.
