Netflix is set to premiere Wednesday on November 23 (on a Wednesday at that) and may have released its trailer and a teaser for Gwendoline Christie’s introduction to Nevermore Academy, but the teasers don’t stop there. Netflix posted on Twitter the official spooky opening credits sequence for the series, which was ‘creatively guided’ by Tim Burton along with Danny Elfman’s ‘haunting’ score. The title sequence didn’t hold back with its collection of imagery including a Nightshade Society book, a violin being played by a knife, the clock’s time in Roman numeral form in a ‘loop’ transforming into a staircase where Thing is climbing up on, a spider spinning a web, a decapitated teddy bear, and the moon turning into one of Wednesday’s eyes. Everything yells 'Wednesday, Tim Burton Style.'

With this, we are sure to expect some easter eggs of the show soon, once the series is released. For now, fans are extra hyped that the opening sequence was released on a Wednesday (yet again), applauding its genius marketing plan. While show creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar initially didn’t think director Tim Burton would be interested in helming the project, they unexpectedly received a go signal along with the agent telling them, “Tim [Burton] loves it” and the rest was history.
The director describes Wednesday as ‘an outcast among outcasts’ and what spoke to him about this version of the Addams family was its Wednesday version as a teenager rather than the child we have grown up watching. To put a teenage Wednesday in a boarding school where she is being forced to mingle among peers — even among peers she seemingly shares similar interests with — is an interesting take to explore the character.
