Warning: if you haven't seen the latest episode of WandaVision, this article contains MAJOR SPOILERS so read at your own risk.
WandaVision had yet another thrilling episode and all the slow-burning Marvel Studios have been doing since the beginning of the show definitely paid off. Episode 4, for the most part, sidetracks the series' sitcom treatment to get down right to the good stuff a lot of fans have been dying to see.
The fourth episode starts off with the stunning revelation that Monica Rambeau was among the people who were part of the "blip" or Thanos' snap in Avengers: Infinity War. The episode also confirms that WandaVision takes place immediately after the events of Avengers: Endgame when things were slowly getting restored thanks to Tony's heroic sacrifice.
Returning from the snap, Monica finds herself in the same spot she was 5 years prior, in a hospital room. She then witnesses utter chaos in the entire hospital as people who were originally blipped come back to life.
We later find out that her mother Maria Rambeau was battling cancer during that time and although she was declared cancer-free, it eventually returned and by the time it did, Monica was already missing due to the snap not knowing that her mother would ultimately succumb to her illness.
It's a tragic ordeal for sure knowing that Maria passed away without her only daughter by her side. It's also heartbreaking for Monica who thought all along that her mother was fine. The revelation that Maria has died also caught a lot of fans off guard since the general belief in the MCU fandom was that Maria would eventually return in a future Captain Marvel film but I guess it's not going to happen anymore.
New episodes of WandaVision premiere every Friday on Disney+.
