VTubers have been popular for years now, and we’re finally getting a new anime about them. Following its reveal earlier this year, the VTuber Legend anime announced new cast members and its 2024 release.
Details about the upcoming VTuber anime were revealed at the Fantasia Bunko Dai Kanshasai Online 2023 livestream event last Saturday. While there was no new trailer shown, four new cast members were revealed.
Also highlighted were the official character art for the show’s other main characters, as well as its confirmed 2024 premiere. This means fans won’t have to wait that long for it to begin airing.
VTuber Legend Taps Popular Voice Actresses for Main Cast
VTuber Legend is an anime by studio TNK that’s based on the comedy slice-of-life manga of the same name.
As its name implies, the anime follows Yuki Tanaka who livestreams as the VTuber Awayuki Kokorone. As Awayuki, she is a prim and proper lady, though this doesn’t prove to be popular among viewers.
One day, Awayuki forgets to turn off her livestream, and her viewers hear her crack open beers and make crude jokes. Because of this, she goes viral online and soon gets free reign to drink while on stream.
Previously, it was revealed that popular VA Ayane Sakura is the voice of the main character Yuki/Awayuki. Sakura is best known for voicing Ochaco in My Hero Academia and Yotsuba Nakano in The Quintessential Quintuplets.
She is now joined by other popular VAs, including:
- Yu Kobayashi (Sasha Blouse in Attack on Titan) as Sei Utsuki
- Saku Mizuno (Ryo Yamada in Bocchi the Rock!) as Mashiro Irodori
- Machico (Tokai Teio in Uma Musume: Pretty Derby) as Hikari Matsuriya
- Sayaka Kikuchi (Curran in Ningen Fushin) as Chami Yanagase

VTuber Legend Confirmed to Release in 2024
It has been a long time coming, but finally, the world of VTubers will finally get the anime treatment. After all, VTubers have seen a meteoric rise in popularity in the last couple of years.
VTubers have been a thing since Kizuna AI debuted in 2016, though it was only in 2020 that the popularity of VTubers truly exploded.
This is thanks in part to the quarantine restrictions during that year, which meant a lot of people were stuck at home.
Since then, VTubers have continued to be popular, and stories about them have also been published. Soon, they’ll finally get an anime with VTuber Legend, which will be released sometime in 2024.
For now, there’s no word yet on a specific release date or window for the VTuber Legend anime. There’s also no info on which platform the series will be streamed on outside Japan.
