There's no absence of Christmas-themed movies released last December. There was the return of Lindsay Lohan in Falling for Christmas and a new The Santa Clauses movie released during the holidays in 2022.

Another movie that gave a twist to the feel-good holiday-theme is Violent Night. Its title alone will make you doubt whether the producers made an error in releasing the film during Christmas season. But no, Violent Night is a Christmas movie that is, well, violent.

Surprisingly, the film made over $75 million from its global release. The original budget was only $25 million, which means the producers made a profit of $50 million. And because of this, it has been revealed that a sequel is in the works.

Right now, the producers and scriptwriter are still in the process of working out details about the sequel. This means that a potential story for Violent Night 2 will still be worked on by the team.

In The Wrap interview, Wirkola shared that they will still need to work on the traditional Santa Claus mythology with a Violent Night twist.

“We have time to really crack the script and figure out the story. And we have some ideas, me, Pat and Josh and the producers. We’ve been talking about where we want to take it and what we want to see. There is stuff we left on the floor like the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, the elves, but story-wise I think we have a really, really cool idea that expands on the world and scope, but still keeping that tone that we love from the first one.”
