Once again, Venom: Let There Be Carnage gets delayed for another three weeks due to the COVID surge brought by the Delta variant. Sony Pictures decided to push back the release date for the safety of all the moviegoers and the theaters where the film would be showing.

In a report by The Hollywood Reporter, it has been confirmed that Venom: Let There Be Carnage's theatrical release will be pushed back once more as the surge continues with the COVID Delta variant wherein the percentage of moviegoers from July being 81 percent dropped to 66 this week according to a poll from the National Research Group.

In Hollywood, when the percentage drops below 70 percent, it could spell trouble. However, Venom: Let There Be Carnage seems to be prepared for it as the new trailer of the film which was released last August 2 only mentioned that it will arrive this fall, looking like they were ready for whatever delay the movie might face like this one.

The Delta variant of COVID is a much alarming kind as compared to the first considering that such has a higher transmission rate than the other variants that even those vaccinated could be infected. If and when one could be present in a movie theater, it could spread really fast and transmit to a lot of people. The decision of Sony Pictures in the delay of the film is definitely understandable considering such a threat.

This is not the first time Venom: Let There Be Carnage got delayed. It was originally scheduled for release in October last year but the presence of a global pandemic gave it a huge push on the release date being June 25, 2021. Serkis took the time of the delay to continue improving the visual effects of the movie. However, it was delayed again to September 17, then to September 24.

Tom Hardy returns as the titular character and Woody Harrelson is expected to become the full-fledged villain, Carnage, in the movie. Andy Serkis holds the direction of the movie considering the experience he has with CGI.

Hopefully, this would be the last time that Sony Pictures would need to push back the release date of the film, or any other film for that matter, due to COVID. The pandemic has cost the industry a lot. Still, everyone's safety is the top priority.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage has a new theatrical release date scheduled on October 15, 2021.
