For years, Sony Pictures has been trying to establish its own Spider-Man universe and after two failed attempts (The Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2), they finally got the ball rolling with the standalone Venom film led by Tom Hardy. By no means was it an accurate depiction of one of Spidey's fiercest foes but the film's box office triumph in 2018 pretty much gave the production company their confidence back and now, we're set to explore more symbiote creatures in the upcoming sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

The project's release date has been halted on multiple occasions but finally, there's no stopping Venom 2's premiere this September. In fact, cinemas are already busy prepping up for the return of the symbiotes. In China, a life-size statue of Cletus Kasady's menacing counterpart has already been set up inside a local cinema and it offers us a more detailed look into Venom's archnemesis we didn't see in the trailer. Mad props to the visual team of Venom as their character designs have always been on point since the original film. I personally love how they didn't go overboard on Carnage and gave him a look that is 100% faithful to his comic roots. But of course, aesthetic is just one aspect of the film, the film's overall story and presentation will still be the deciding factor. I'm confident though that Sony has everything under control.

Originally set for an October 2020 premiere, Venom: Let There Be Carnage will now hit cinemas on September 24, 2021.
