Travis Scott And Drake Lambasted: Rappers Sued Following Astroworld Stampede That Killed 8 People

Rappers Travis Scott and Drake are now facing multiple lawsuits from the victims of the tragic concert stampede in Texas last week. The two have been accused of "inciting mayhem" and causing a stampede, killing eight people.

On Sunday, Texas firm Thomas J Henry Law confirmed that it had filed a lawsuit against the two rappers on behalf of a 23-year-old concertgoer who was severely injured during the concert. Kristian Paredes was one of more than 50,000 people that attended the sold-out Astroworld Festival in RNG Park.

Paredes is seeking more than $1 million in damages for the injuries he sustained. He alleged that both Scott and drake had helped incite the already out of control crowd by continuing their performance.

High-profile attorney Ben Crump also confirmed on Sunday that they would be suing Scott and Astroworld organizers on behalf of another concertgoer injured during the event. Crump specializes in civil rights and personal injury.

Crump has represented plaintiffs such as the families of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, both of whom were killed by police officers. He said they expect to file several other lawsuits on behalf of injured attendees and the families of those killed during the concert.

Completed His Set Despite The Chaos

The stampede occurred at around 9:15 p.m. local time after Scott took the stage to perform. The crowd reportedly surged forward towards the stage, crushing those in front into a metal barrier. Scott reportedly continued to perform even after eight people had been crushed to death. One witness said there was already a "floor of bodies," but the show continued.

Videos posted online showed fans calling on organizers to stop the show, while others were desperately calling for help as they got stomped on by the out-of-control crowd. Scott did finish his 75-minute performance, but he had called for help at one point when he noticed the chaos. He reportedly glanced in the direction of the stampede and called for security to help.

The show's organizers, Live Nation, eventually halted the show at around 10:10 p.m. First responders then arrived on the scene, where people were still stampeding through a VIP entrance.

Travis Scott 'Devastated' Over Concert Deaths

Scott later released a video on social media where he said that he was "devastated" about the deaths at his concert. Travis had twice been accused of encouraging fans to jump barriers and rush the stage at his previous concerts.

Sources close to the rapper said he was seen sobbing backstage following the incident. The same source said the rapper had no idea what was happening and that people were dying while he was performing on stage.

Meanwhile, Scott's girlfriend Kylie Jenner, who was at the concert, was slammed by online users for posting videos of the chaos.
