Top Gun: Maverick Actor Debunks Potential Marvel and DC Casting

The seemingly “endgame” for actors to play a role in their career centers around eventually landing a part in superhero movies, and with Marvel and DC planning ahead their upcoming MCU and DC Universe timelines, there is no doubt that there are bound to be missing roles to be filled. Fans are quick to voice out their dream casts over social media, and one of them happens to be imagining Top Gun: Maverick star Glen Powell being fan casted to be Cyclops or Green Lantern.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Powell admitted he is not a huge comic book fan and has never “had a conversation with Marvel” before. However, he acknowledges the fan casting speculation surrounding his potential Marvel role as Cyclops or as the new Green Lantern in the DC Universe.

“It takes a long time to navigate this town,” Powell says, “So for anyone to be like, “Oh, he’d be great in this role,” it’s humbling, it’s great.”

This isn’t the first time Glen Powell received any kind of fan casting, as he was previously dream cast to be a part of Fantastic Four as Johnny Storm, and even DC’s Booster Gold. As it stands, it looks like Powell has yet to receive any kind of Marvel or DC associations, so fans would have to wait for his potential MCU or DCU role in the future.

When an actor starts getting fancasted, it’s quite noteworthy to consider that the fans know exactly who they are voting for. In fact, quite recently, fan artists have also spilled their dream castings of Wednesday star Jenna Ortega as White Tiger (which has been long rumored to happen), Wednesday co-star Emma Myers as Spider-Verse’s live-action Gwen Stacy, and even Harry Potter villain Jason Isaacs as Magneto.

What do you think of Glen Powell coming into the MCU or DCU?
