Major fanfare surrounds Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men reboot but despite the anticipation the fandom has been showing, details about the project, most especially its cast have remained scarce. Still, that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from spinning and over the last couple of months, several casting news has circulated all over the internet.

One actor who is heavily speculated to be joining the reboot is Glenn Powell who made quite an impression on audiences in Top Gun: Maverick. According to rumors, the 33-year-old star is one of the favorites to play Scott Summers aka Cyclops in the anticipated project.

In an interview with Variety, the breakout star admitted that he's well aware of the casting rumors. However, Powell claims that he's not in touch with anyway over at Marvel Studios. He said: "Before Comic-Con, everybody was like, “Dude, are you Cyclops?” No, I’m not. Nobody has called me. I don’t even have one contact info for Marvel, so I have no idea what people are talking about"

There's no denying that Powell turned a lot of heads with his portrayal of Lt. Jake "Hangman" Seresin so it wouldn't come as a surprise if Marvel actually reached out to him about joining the billion-dollar franchise. And considering he's just in his early 30s, he'd certainly fit the criteria the studio is looking for.

Now, with D23 Expo just around the corner, a lot of people are hopeful that we'll finally get some much-needed updates regarding the arrival of the mutants. However, with the MCU's packed slate, I think we'll have to wait a little longer before they lay out their plans for the X-Men.

Details about Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot still remain under wraps but the project is expected to drop after Phase Six.
