Fan Wants Henry Cavill As X-Men’s Cyclops For the MCU

With rumors circulating Henry Cavill’s Superman appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming Black Adam debut film, it is no surprise that fans continue to hope for Cavill to reprise his role. The artist posted on their Instagram (@subi.ozil) their fanart of Henry Cavill as X-Men’s Cyclops, with the caption, ‘Cyclops has always been one of my [favorite] X-Men characters growing up. I wish we get to see more of him soon.

The artist designed Henry Cavill fulfilling their dream to play as Cyclops of the MCU’s X-Men. In the fan art, the actor gets Cyclops’ signature mask, while using his iconic superpowers; the art shows a slight resemblance to James Marsden’s Cyclops back in the X-Men film series.

Dwayne Johnson confirmed a Black Adam vs. Superman in his upcoming film this October in an interview with CinemaBlend, “I have been saying for some time, there’s a new era in the DC Universe that’s about to begin. And what I meant by that was introducing a brand new character. It’s not a sequel, not an existing IP. It was…you know, Black Adam!”

Fans have been speculating that Henry Cavill ‘switched sides’ by joining an upcoming Marvel Studios project, but this remains a rumor. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe establishing the multiverse all the while including even more mutants to play a part in Marvel, the addition of Cyclops would strengthen the existence of mutants altogether. After all, his strong desire to normalize humans and mutants co-existing on earth is no easy feat to reach.

Cyclops (who’s real name is Scott Summers) is a mutant who fights through ‘concussive force-based, red-colored beams from his eyes’, sworn to protect peace and equality between humans and mutants as he continues to do so as leader of his own X-men faction. It would be interesting how the Man of Steel would still be able to appear as his role, granted he ever gets the opportunity to also be present in the MCU.
