It has been nearly two years now since the release of the first season, and finally, a new Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun anime project has been confirmed that’s billed as a “restart” for the series.

The new Hanako-kun anime was announced recently with a teaser and a key visual featuring the show’s main character.

It seems that the new anime project announcement isn’t as straightforward as fans would like as instead of a Season 2 or a reboot, the word “restart” was used for the anime’s return.

This restart for Hanako-kun can mean many things. Following the announcement, some fans on Reddit shared their predictions for what it will be.

Some believe that it will be a second season while others think it might be a reboot in the same vein as Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

This is because the first season featured a couple of key differences from the manga source material.

However, a Reddit user pointed out that this new project is most likely a second season. This is because the term “restart” has been used in other anime announcements before such as with Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.

Essentially, it’s likely that the word “restart” means that the anime’s story will resume, so this could possibly be a follow-up to the story of the first season.

While some fans wish for a new anime that’s more faithful to the manga, others are already happy with a second season given that the first has quite a number of fans.

Currently, there’s no footage yet for the new anime as the teaser that was released only featured clips from Season 1.

Though it does feature a different rendition of the ending song entitled Tiny Light by Akari Kito (the VA of Nezuko from Demon Slayer).

While many viewers enjoyed Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Season 1 thanks to its interesting premise and beautiful art style, some manga readers did not like the approach of the anime.

For instance, there were some parts of the manga that were cut. The animation for some parts of the show was also criticized for being of lower quality than expected.

Given this, it will be interesting to see what the approach will be for the new anime.

Though we might have to wait a bit longer before we see actual footage and other information.
