In the leadup to the anime’s premiere in Winter 24, ‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess revealed two new voice cast members. These new VAs are up-and-coming actresses who played roles in Jujutsu Kaisen and Slow Loop.
This upcoming anime was announced back in June, and it got a proper trailer a few weeks ago that highlighted its story and main characters.
Despite what the title may imply, this “torture” anime promises to be far from a torturous experience.
'Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess: Surprisingly Not a Dark Anime
‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess is an upcoming anime by Pine Jam, the studio behind shows such as Do It Yourself!! and Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible.
It’s based on the manga of the same name that has been serialized in Shonen Jump+ from April 2019 until now.
At first glance, the show may seem like a dark fantasy series where a princess gets tortured. Only half of that is true as there is indeed a princess that’s tortured, but it’s not the kind of torture that’s tough to look at.
This series is set in a fantasy world where the forces of the Imperial Army clash with the Hellhorde. The Imperial Army’s Princess then gets captured along with her holy sword, Ex.
With the Princess now a prisoner of war, the Hellhorde aims to extract information from her. They can’t resort to standard torture as this is prohibited in the treaty that the two forces have signed.
Thus, the Hellhorde’s grand inquisitor named Torture Tortura resorts to different kinds of “torture,” including tempting the Princess with delicious food.

Jujutsu Kaisen and Slow Loop VAs Join ‘Tis Time for “Torture”
Previously, the show’s three main stars were revealed. They are Haruka Shiraishi (Fumino in We Never Learn), Chikahiro Kobayashi (Sugimoto in Golden Kamuy), and Shizuka Ito (Kaori in A Certain Magical Index).
Now, two new VAs have been announced. The first is Anna Nagase (Riko Amanai in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2) who voices Youki. Then there’s Inki whose VA is Honoka Inoue (Aiko Ninomiya in Slow Loop).
Youki and Inki are Oni sisters, and they are also Hellhorde torturers. Instead of food, their brand of “torture” is harnessing the power of friendship.
‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess will be released in January 2024. For now, there’s no word yet on which platform the show will be streamed on outside of Japan.
